Blue carbon credits are coming to markets whether we like it or not; however, are they evaluated properly? You don't want to buy blue carbon credits and then find out that the process produced methane and contributed to more Greenhouse gases that a recent study revealed.
The study showed that we need to do more research to understand the carbon cycle in these blue carbon systems (seagrass, mangrove, and salt marsh habitats).
